An important aspect of our research programme is to establish an animal model, namely the Zebrafish (Danio rerio). By utilising sustainable zebrafish models we can provide groundbreaking oncological and therapeutic data to be used as part of our cannabinoid research programme.
There are a lot of benefits of using Zebrafish models instead of using traditional rodents. The functional homology of Zebrafish share a lot of similarities with mammals as they are also vertebrates.
It’s also a lot easier to keep zebrafish in their natural habitat than it is for mammals and the impact on welfare and wellbeing is considerably lower whilst the number of animal subjects needed is not as high due to the amount of offspring Zebrafish produce.
Through this interesting animal model we will continue our research and show the efficacy of our cannabinoid treatment within a full organism.
